I learned quite a bit on my recent press trip to Seattle with Microsoft. If you have been reading for a few years you know that I am a Windows Champion and write about Microsoft products and services from time to time. Last week I learned a ton about Windows 8 and Office 365. Admittedly, I was reluctant to even give Windows 8 a chance because the changes seemed too daunting. Now that I have had a deep dive with the Microsoft team I  am excited to use and learn more about what Windows has to offer. Today I want to ease your fears that if you use a Windows phone you won’t be able…

Review: The ASUS ET2700 Desktop Delivers

ASUS ET2700

I get many perks being a Windows Champion. It’s been fun using Windows technology in laptops, in Microsoft’s Windows phones, and now in a desktop.
I, along with other Champions, were given the ASUS ET2700, an all-in-one monitor and desktop, to review and I can honestly say it is the best desktop I have ever used. I am so sad that my review unit has to go back!

Microsoft’s New Touch Mouse

Microsoft Touch Mouse

One thing I immediately noticed is the Touch Mouse does not have a scroll wheel. Rather with a touch of your finger the mouse can detect if you need to scroll up or down or pan around.

Laptop Talk: Sony Vaio Z

Sony Vaio Z

This week I am writing about four laptops I was shown while at Microsoft’s London office. Yesterday I wrote about the Acer Aspire S3. Today I am writing about the Sony Vaio Z. If you are in the market for a super computer you definitely want to look at the Sony Vaio Z laptop.  I am currently using the Sony Vaio S for the Windows Champion program. Yes, I love it, but the Z series has some serious performance upgrades. Powered by Windows 7 Professional, the Sony Vaio Z laptops are highly customizable depending on what you want under the hood from Intel Core i5 or i7, Windows Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate, the type…

Laptop Talk: A Look at the Acer Aspire S3

I loved stopping by the Microsoft office when I was in London last week. As a Windows Champion I am always thrilled to check out anything Microsoft is up to and since I was in the city I set up a time to drop by and they were so nice to accommodate me. So nice! There I got a chance to look at four new laptops that will be great gifts for the holiday season or whenever you’re looking to buy a new, more powerful laptop. The first laptop I saw from the Microsoft team was the Acer Aspire 3S Ultrabook of course run on Windows. In fact, the Acer Aspire S3 runs on Windows…

Working on Windows – London Edition

Windows Champions

I just arrived in London this morning and have been feverishly getting work done in the lobby of my hotel until my room is ready. I love that it is still quite early in the States. It gives me some time to get work done before everyone wakes up and heads into the office back home.

New Site Provides Browser Security Score

Your Browser Matters

The other day I was watching a news show whose tech guest was a government security expert. He had just released a new book — I can’t recall its name — but I remember him saying that he wouldn’t use the computer for banking and that he would rarely use it for making purchases online. All I could think was, “Whoops! My entire life is in my computer and I sure don’t know how secure my movements are when I log into my bank account or buy something with my credit card.” Microsoft just launched a new site called Your Browser Matters (www.yourbrowsermatters.com) which helps show you how your browser keeps you secure online. Simply…

A Cheaper, Smaller iPhone May Be in the Works to Compete Against Android Phones

The funny thing about Apple’s reputation is that it is nearly indestructible, but recent moves on their part signal things may not be as calm back on the ranch as they’d like us to believe.
