Mom Bloggers Discuss Money at SXSW

This past weekend at South by Southwest a core conversation led by Erin Chase (5 Dollar Dinners) and Catherine Connors (Babble, Her Bad Mother) centered around the myriad ways in which mom bloggers can earn money from the blogs they have created.  The conversation, Monetizing Mommy, drew in moms, media, and brands. One Third of All Bloggers Are, That’s Right, Moms

Everyone always declares that mom bloggers are a force to be reckoned with and now there are more Nielsen numbers to verify it. According to recent data published by Nielsen/McKinsey Incite, a social media intelligence agency, one third of all blogs are written by moms and half of all bloggers are women. Nielsen/McKinsey does include moms who post solely on Twitter and/or Facebook and lump them all into the blogger category which I disagree with. I would call those women social media moms as opposed to bloggers. In addition to the overwhelming prevalence of women and mothers who blog, they are also mostly well-educated, and are three times more likely to post on message boards and forums….
