First Mom Fashion Show Announced for Fashion Week

Typically when you think of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week held every year in New York City you don’t automatically think of moms, but a few mothers set out five months ago to change that.
Audrey McClelland and Vera Sweeney of Getting Gorgeous, Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein of The Moms and Holly Pavlika, the managing director of Big Fuel, a New York full-service marketing and communications company, and founder of Momentum have come together to create Strut — The Fashionable Mom Show. Strut will be Fashion Week’s first ever mom fashion show.
Strut – The Fashionable Mom Show will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Lincoln Center. Real and celeb moms will strut their stuff on the runway while the show is streamed live on the Net.
“Vera and I started Getting Gorgeous two years ago because we really wanted to bring attainable fashion tips to moms,” said McClelland. “For us, this was the next logical evolution and what’s remarkable about this is we can bring fashion to every mom through the live stream, Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest.”
Strut – The Fashionable Mom Show has already been written about in New York magazine as well as on Women’s Wear Daily. The buzz about a mom fashion show is building fast.
“I am speechless,” McClelland admitted. “And I don’t get speechless about many things.”

Super cool…and a huge congratulations to all the moms involved!
Can’t wait to see who struts their stuff on the runway! I hope that the planners choose to showcase a variety of body types.
Mom Models I recommend include:
* Colleen (Classy Mommy)
* Jes (A Mountain Bride – she lives in NYC!)
* Jenny (Mama Nash & Company)
* Darcie (Such the Spot)
* Alysa (Inspired RD)
* Leigh (Marvelous Kiddo – in nearby NJ)
This is amazing. The first mom fashion show and it will be at Lincoln Center. Pretty amazing!
Congrats to everyone involved!
I saw this and thought was a novel idea!!
