Tania Luviano Launches Latina Mom TV

Tania Luviano is not your average vlogging mom. Luviano is a five time Emmy winner, host of the “Women’s Channel” on Terra.com, freelance reporter for NBC San Diego and contributor for Fox News Latino. She has also previously worked for Telemundo and Univision. Not only a seasoned journalist Luviano is also the busy mother to two children, 4 and 2, and creator of the new site Latina Mom TV.

It was when Luviano worked on a story for Fox News Latino about the rise of the blogueras during this year’s Blogher conference that she decided to finally launch Latina Mom TV after years of it resting comfortably on the backburner. Latina Mom TV is the first site that focuses primarily on English video content for the burgeoning online Latina mom community.

“Video is the future of blogging,” said Luviano in a recent phone interview. “We can connect to people in ways we can’t in text. For example, video is easier to review products. Videos stick more than text and I enable my visitors to multi-task. We are all about multi-tasking.”

Nearing two months old Latina Mom TV has already received video submissions from twenty Latina moms that discuss parenting topics such as bullying and concerns they have about their kids and technology. Luviano is counting on Latinas to get past their apprehension about creating video content and embrace a new medium. “We Latinas are a little more private,” Luviano mentioned. “I would like Latina Mom TV to really be the site where Latina moms feel free to talk about anything without feeling shame or fear.”

A video content site may prove risky acknowledges Luviano. She understands video may not catch on among

Latina moms, but she is optimistic. “I think Latina moms will have more power in the blogosphere through video,” said Luviano.

Already a spokesperson for Dawn dish detergent Luviano envisions Latina Mom TV as a site that is fully supported by brand advertising and sponsorships. Right now Latina Mom TV is a labor of love for Luviano who admits to getting up eagerly at 4 AM every morning to work on her site.

In the immediate future Luviano would like to hire contributions once brands sign on as well as add more sections to her site in January 2012. And five years down the road Luviano wants to turn Latina Mom TV into a show. With Luviano’s journalism credentials and experience her goal may very happen.

If you would like to contribute video content to Latina Mom TV visit www.latinamomtv.com for more information. For moms who are just starting to vlog Luviano recommends using a video camera that has a double screen so you can see yourself while you’re recording yourself. Her personal recommendation is the Sony Bloggie Duo Camera because it has a double screen and a mic jack. It retails for $169.99 at the Sony store.
