Bloggers: Travel to Japan for Free
We all know that Japan has experienced its fair share of tragedies from the horrible earthquake to the tsunami that caused the nuclear crisis. Things have been rough going for the Japanese to be sure.
In order to usher in a bumper crop of happy tourists Japanese lawmakers have put forth a proposal to give away 10,000 free flights to Japan to bloggers and social media heavy weights according to ABC News. Those who are accepted will have to pay for their own food and accomodations.
Clearly this traveling opportunity seems like a stellar way to get tourists into the country to see what it has to offer despite its recent tragedies. And while this sounds great (I will be first in line to get free tickets) the Japanese government needs to first give the proposal a green light.
Keep your eye on this story. If this happens bloggers can start traveling to Japan as early as next spring.

Wow, that would be an amazing opportunity. I’m sure food and lodging would be crazy expensive, but my brother may be stationed there for 3 years through the military so maybe we could work something out :)
I’m all for a free flight, that is some serious coin. I just hope that the bloggers who do opt in (I’d be on for sure) understand just how expensive things like food and lodging are in the land of the rising sun. I’d hate to see anyone take this offer, not be prepared, and end up with serious sticker shock and a rumbly -unfed- tummy.
I saw that article, too, and will be watching eagerly for it! The cost of lodging will be a factor, though, of course, as well as if they’ll allow us to bring someone with us. I’d want my hubby or one of our teens to have the experience with me.
I hope this is true! Of course, bloggers would do a fantastic job of sharing all that Japan has to offer for other tourists – tons of photos and in depth coverage. Plus we’d promote it. I’m in line for tickets with you!
